Hunter Wood, CMHC Intern

My approach to therapy combines thoughtful reflection with interactive, experiential work that helps clients engage with their patterns in meaningful ways. I believe that even when life feels overwhelming, people often possess valuable insight into their own experiences and capacity for growth.

I am a Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern completing my master’s degree at Lamar University, and I received my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brigham Young University.

I work with individuals, couples, teens, and young adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, compulsive sexual behavior, relational conflict, shame, self-esteem concerns, faith transitions, and life transitions.

My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that people often already hold meaningful insight into their experiences, even when things feel overwhelming. I focus on helping clients slow down, reflect, and better understand themselves and their relationships.

I aim to create a space that feels safe, genuine, and approachable, where clients can talk openly without fear of judgment. While therapy can involve meaningful emotional depth, I also believe growth can happen through curiosity, humor, creativity, and moments of genuine human connection. Alongside traditional talk therapy, I value a more interactive and experiential approach that helps clients engage with their patterns in meaningful ways.

I incorporate principles from Motivational Interviewing, EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), adapting my approach to each client’s needs and goals.

I am supervised by Connor Barham, LMFT, and am currently accepting new clients in person in our Provo office and via telehealth for Utah residents.

Therapy sessions last 55 minutes. Initial intake: 60/session. Ongoing therapy: 60/session. I accept SelectHealth, BCBS, Aetna, U of U Health Plans, DMBA, PEHP, UHC, UMR, and EMI Health insurance.
